ABOUT  Sandra Joran

I began my passion for Mandalas in January 1999. Designing, drawing, creating and painting Mandalas. These works incorporated the circle, symbol of the universe. The square, symbol of earthbound matter and generally exhibit a central point, radial symmetry and cardinal points. I paint in mixed media on paper or canvas. I have been exhibiting since 1985 and have participated in hundreds of exhibitions. The majority of my work is held in private collections also published in books and calendars.  VIRTUAL WORLDS : In 2008 I discovered Second Life and the Virtual Art World therein and my amazing journey began into uploading and building my artwork in the virtual. What an amazing learning curve. I am still there today and absolutely loving it. Fantastic stuff!

* January 1999 I started changing direction after many years of contemplation.  Deciding to utilise my geometric and technical drafting skills into one area only, which I felt would inspire me for a long time to come. I began my passion for Mandalas. Designing, drawing, creating and painting Mandalas. I paint these in mixed media
using gouache, inks, pastels, metallic paints, pencils, acrylics and enamels either on watercolour paper, board or canvas. In 2005 I was included in the page-a-day Mandala Calendar with other mandala artists from around the world by Workman Publishing, New York.
